Anti-bullying app brilliant

THE EDITOR: I was pleased to see a media story highlighting the technological innovativeness of the students from the Chaguanas North Secondary School who have created a mobile phone application which allows students to anonymously report incidents of bullying.

Not only is this a brilliant move on the part of these students but it seems to me that the students are demonstrating the kinds of high-tech skills which they are learning in school as part of the Ministry of Education’s information technology syllabus.

It is also an example of students being proactive by attempting to provide a safe, discreet avenue for bullied students to report such incidents on the mobile anti-bullying application so that some kind of action can be taken against the bullies. The use of this mobile application could also play its part in the continued of reduction of school indiscipline because bullies may not want to take the chance of misbehaving in school if they know they would be reported by people unknown.
