OROPOUCHE East MP Dr Roodal Moonilal says there will be more police patrols as a result of the murder of a security guard in Debe.

He was speaking at a media conference Wednesday at the Office of the Opposition Leader, Port of Spain.

Security guard Kenwin Williams, also called Willie, of TT Security Services Ltd, was shot in the back of the head during a heist on Tuesday at the entrance of Anand’s Mall, South Haven, in Debe.

A supervisor at Anand Low Price Supermarket, Alloy Rodriguez, 42, of Fyzabad, was shot and wounded and is warded at the San Fernando General Hospital.

Williams, the father of one, celebrated his 38th birthday on Sunday. He lived alone at Derrick Road, Chase Village in Chaguanas.

Moonilal spoke on the “outrageous robbery” and shooting which left the security officer dead, saying he spoke with Commissioner of Police Gary Griffith, who said there would be increased police patrols and police activity in the area. He reported that after Divali the CoP will meet members of the business community.

Moonilal said the area is a business hub and needs protection, and the private sector of Oropouche East and environs was very eager to collaborate with police to stop the tidal wave of criminality and murder.
