THE Sandals Foundation has donated US $50,000 (TT$335,000) to the Living Water Community to help with flood relief efforts.

The foundation is the philanthropic arm of Sandals Resorts International.

In a press release Tuesday, Sandals said it had noted with “alarm the terrible flooding situation in TT which has left so many families in dire need of basic items.

“Like so many others who have responded at this time of need, we intend to do our part to help ease the burden of those affected.”

The donation is expected to be used to provide items such as cooked food, water, baby food, diapers, toiletries, non-perishable food, and medical and cleaning supplies.

Sandals said a number of its senior managers are from TT and have been reaching out to their family and friends who live in affected areas.

Sandals Foundation director Heidi Clark said it was happy to support their efforts as the foundation has seen first-hand how natural disasters have negatively affected communities and families.

“We feel it is our duty whenever possible to play our part to help return lives to normalcy as quickly as possible. Our neighbours in TT have suffered tremendously due to this unprecedented flooding and we are pleased to support the Living Water Community in their efforts to reach those most in need.”
