Let's return to law and order

THE EDITOR: On August 17, the Chaguaramas Development Authority (CDA) gave written notice to squatters at Alcan Bay, clearly instructing them to immediately demolish their unauthorised buildings on or before September 7.

The CDA eventually shows up several weeks after the deadline date to demolish the structures and everyone is shocked by their actions.

To quote one of the illegal occupants from an electronic media broadcast, “We know we have illegally occupied this land and the, yes, CDA gave us proper notice but we didn’t think they would actually do what they said they will do.”

That right there is what is wrong with this country. We have the laws but no one believes anyone will actually enforce them. Time to bring back some semblance of law and order to a society that has been drunk on lawlessness for way too long.
