Student fights off rape

A 13-YEAR-OLD schoolgirl from south Trinidad escaped being raped by her 16-year-old neighbour while they were at an abandoned house near to their homes on Tuesday.

The victim told police she managed to ward off her attacker by struggling with him as he attempted to assault her.

According to reports, at 4 pm, the schoolgirl was walking through a track on her way home when she was approached by the neighbour who forced her into the abandoned house.

While at the house the suspect began fondling the girl who fought top get away. When the boy forced her to kneel, she pushed him and fought off his advances, suffering minor cuts and bruises in the process. The boy then ran out of the house.

The girl ran home and told her relatives what had happened. A report was made to the Child Protection Unit and investigations are continuing. An arrest, police said, is imminent.
