Escaped prisoner surrenders

Heston Antonio Lopez,30, who escaped while under police guard at the Scarborough General Hospital last Friday night, surrendered to police on Monday morning.

Lopez, originally from #7 Plum Avenue, Santa Rosa Heights Arima, Trinidad and Building 16, Apartment 1-3, Maloney Gardens was arrested in Tobago for a number of offences and then taken to the hospital for treatment after he complained of feeling unwell.

A police source said a friend of Lopez known only as Masaba, of Bethel, promised police officers that he would locate and return the escaped prisoner into police custody. Newsday understands that Masaba is known to Tobago police.

Just after 2pm, Lopez walked into the Scarborough police station and gave himself up.
