Appalled at half-pint talk

THE EDITOR: I was appalled to read, in a recent Reginald Dumas’ column, about the treatment of journalist Kejan Haynes by Phillip Edward Alexander, where he described the journalist as a “half-pint house negro.”

Dumas did mention, later in the article, that Alexander offered an apology of a sorts. However, that is not good at all. The fact that he could use those words about anyone shows the true nature of his character.

I hope what this man said receives the widest possible distribution, particularly in view of the fact that he is an “aspiring politician” and not in a very strong position to refer to anyone as “half-pint.”
