Sleeveless ‘law’is ridiculous

THE EDITOR: Recently I was at the Immigration (Passport) Office in Port of Spain and met a female waiting on her turn to be called.

She had a coat that was loaned to her to cover her shoulders as there is a rule (seems more like a law to me) that sleeveless tops are not allowed in the office.

Immediately I thought, surely that rule should apply to men only, as I can agree with that, but for women too? Really? Where is this? The Middle East?

I really had to laugh while thinking that with so many serious laws that are broken everyday in this country, at least one is being controlled.

I would really like to know who passed this “law” and what is the logic behind it. Seems a bit archaic and ridiculous to a point. Maybe it is an old rule that needs to be revised in a modern frame of mind.
