Ex-cop’s son shot dead in D’Abadie

A 33-year-old man, said to be the son of a former police officer, was shot dead yesterday in D’Abadie.

Dane Hazarie, of De Gannes Street, Arima, was in a Hyundai Elantra car with two other men on Boys Lane just before 10 am, when, as they neared the traffic lights, a gold colour car pulled up alongside them and the occupants riddled Hazarie’s car with bullets.

The driver of the car in which Hazarie was seated sped off in a bid to escape, but crashed into another car then veered off the road and crashed into a wall near the traffic lights.

By the time police and emergency services arrived, Hazarie was already dead.

The two other men were taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex.

Northern Division and Homicide police, including Supt Ramkhelawan, ASP Hosepdales, Insp Craig Sgt Highly, Sgt Mascall and Sgt Stanisclaus, went the scene.

Newsday was told that more than 20 spent shells were recovered.
