DILLIAN Johnson, who is said to be a friend of Chief Justice Ivor Archie, is undergoing physical therapy for a gunshot wound he received in December, says British human-rights campaigner Peter Tatchell.

Tatchell provided the update on Johnson on Wednesday, and said the former WASA supervisor’s asylum application was currently under consideration by the Home Office in the United Kingdom.

Johnson fled to the UK on December 29.

Tatchell also said asylum applications can “often take several months or years; owing to the huge backlog of cases and under-staffing.

“I am confident that he has a strong case and will eventually be granted refugee status. He is at risk of persecution and even murder in TT.”

Johnson has said he was shot in what he feared was a murder attempt to silence him.

“I believe the gun attack was an attempt to silence me. I was in fear for my life. The police were doing nothing to catch the shooter. That’s why I fled to the UK and have applied for asylum,” Johnson said in March.

Tatchell is advising Johnson and is supporting his asylum bid.
