Don’t use social media to hurt

THE EDITOR: Leaps continue to be made in technology, especially in the area of social media. However, we have to be careful that what is meant for good is not used for evil, as has already happened with children being lured by paedophiles via the internet.

While most people use social media to help others, there are the wicked and demonic ones who use these same websites and applications to destroy people’s characters.

I am therefore appealing to our citizens, the regular users of social media, to please use this fantastic communication tool for positive vibes and not for disrespecting and hurting people.

Social media is being used today to spew ugly racist comments. Unfortunately that has apparently become the norm on Facebook. The racist language shows blatantly how some of us feel towards others.

What about our national motto “Together we aspire, together we achieve?” What about the line from the national anthem that states “here every creed and race finds an equal place?”

Come on citizens, let us make these words a reality in our lives.
