Patching roadin Diego wasteof resources

THE EDITOR: This is an appeal to anyone in authority over the supposed repairs/resurfacing of St Lucien Road in Diego Martin.

In or around May when it was widely publicised that remediation work will begin on St Lucien Road and continue until early September, I along with many other commuters that use this very busy road would have breathed a sigh of relief, regardless of the fact that it would mean great hardship while the work was being done. But at least the deplorable condition of the road was eventually being addressed.

However, to date all we have seen is a series of hastily placed patches that begin to crumble immediately after the workers have left the site and now the road is in a worst state of repair than before.

Anyone who lives in the area or uses the road north of the Wendy Fitzwilliam Boulevard would attest to what I am saying. It is simply inconceivable that the contractors involved can continue to be allowed to waste material and man hours with what has surly become a sham.

This road needs a complete rehabilitation job; the surface has to be milled and the foundation restored.

If the original plan was to do the necessary rehabilitation job then what is being done now is a complete waste of scarce resources.

Hopefully someone will step in and correct a project that seems to have gone completely wrong.
