UPDATE:

THE Galleons Passage fast ferry should arrive in TT by July 16. Works and Transport Minister Rohan Sinanan made the announcement in the House of Representatives yesterday.

Sinanan said the Galleons Passage is estimated to leave Cuba on July 10.

“The vessel’s sailing time is approximately four to six days, fair weather permitting and good sea conditions.” Sinanan reiterated that the cost of retrofitting done on the vessel in Cuba by the seller, Sea Transport Corporation of Australia, will be borne “by the seller.” He added the cost to bring the Galleons Passage to TT will be provided to the Parliament, after it arrives in TT.

Last Monday, Finance Minister Colm Imbert said Government decided to bring the Galleons Passage to TT from Cuba, immediately.

Imbert said this was done after Sea Transport was unable to complete retrofitting work in Cuba. The Senate will debate a private motion on the Galleons Passage today.

Later in the sitting, Imbert said all Caribbean Airlines aircraft, “that are in service are in full compliance with all civil aviation requirements.” Imbert added one CAL aircraft is in the process of a full overhaul and this should be completed in one month’s time.
