Smithfield connector road by September

A new connector road at Smithfield is expected to be ready for the new school term.

A press release from the Division of Infrastructure said excavation works and preparation for drainage are currently in progress with the scope of works including construction of a 246-metre road, complete with drainage infrastructure and sidewalks. The new road would provide an alternative route to the newly-constructed Scarborough RC Primary School from the Claude Noel Highway via Mt Marie Road and would help reduce traffic congestion in the Mt Marie and Smithfield school zones.

The connector road is part of the Division’s plans to improve the road network in Scarborough.

The Division also said it will soon be inviting tenders for a Scarborough Ring Road Feasibility Study through the National Infrastructure Development Company Limited (NIDCO).
