THE EDITOR: More senior readers might remember when we had US ambassadors who openly told the government what to do. We may be about to see a return to that era.
US President Donald Trump has nominated 80-year-old Joseph Mondello to be the US ambassador to TT.
In his Senate hearing he “promised to urge the TT Government to drop its support in the Organisation of American States for Venezuela, led by President Nicolas Maduro.”
He also said “we have to have some messaging going on there, to let people understand what we believe, what we are.”
If the modus operandi of the US President is anything to go by, TT is in for some very interesting times.
