Someone could have helped her

THE EDITOR: I am so disappointed, disgusted, and hurt to see how much we are no longer our brother’s keeper.

A woman was mercilessly beaten with a gun butt by a man and not one person tried to help.

Have we become that heartless? Yes, he had a gun but still no-one even tried to stop him by throwing a bottle or a brick at him, or even knocking him over with their car. If it was your mother, sister, wife, daughter, girlfriend, what would you have done?

The woman is somebody’s mother and daughter and we are supposed to be our brother’s keeper.

We must not be heartless when we see someone in trouble. You do not even have to know the person to show kindness, to show some love. Love conquerors all things. Couldn’t somebody call the police stations in the area for help for the woman?

We do not know in what situation we or our children could be in future. But one thing I am sure about — everybody needs somebody. So do good and good will come back to you. (Love suffers long and is kind, love does not envy, love does not parade itself, is not puffed up – 1 Corinthians 13:4-8.)
