Religious heads to make ‘major announcement’

A PRESS conference of several senior heads of religious groups will be held on Monday at which a major announcement will be made. Efforts to find out whether the conference was about the Concordat or other matters, were unsuccessful, as most calls went to voice mail while others declined to comment.

However, one source said the topic of the meeting was under embargo. A press release yesterday said leaders of majority religious bodies have formed an NGO called RebuildTT. The meeting will be held at Archbishop’s House, Maraval Road, Port of Spain at 2 pm and is expected to last for an hour.

Those expected to attend include Archbishop of PoS Jason Gordon, secretary general of the Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha Satnarayan Maharaj, Anjuman Sunnat ul Jamaat Association president Yacoob Ali, president of the Council of Evangelical Churches Dr Desmond Austin, the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Dr Clive Dottin and president of the Faith-Based Ministries Pastor Winston Mansingh.
