Police: We don’t know about sea attack

SOUTH WESTERN Division police say they do not know the whereabouts of two of three fishermen believed to have been attacked by gunmen at sea last week Monday.

Relatives of one of the fishermen - Adrian Guy, of Bonasse Village, in Cedros - claimed he swam to Venezuela. However, 27-year-old Ronald Seethe, of Teemul Trace, off Clarke Road, in Penal, and Vishnu Ramkissoon, of Coromandel Village, in Cedros, remained unaccounted for.

Police said although relatives reported the men missing, an alleged “attack at sea” remained unconfirmed. They said as soon as Guy returns to Trinidad, they would question him. According to reports, on Monday, the three men left in a boat from the Otaheite Fishing Facility and went out at sea. Residents of Bonasse Village claimed to have seen them at around 2 pm the same day. That was the last time anyone saw them. Guy later contacted relatives and told them he was staying in Venezuela. He claimed that while at sea, five people on another vessel crashed into their boat and attacked them. He also heared gunshots. Fearful for his life, Guy said jumped off and swam to Venezuela. That was the last time he saw Seethe and Ramkissoon.

Coast Guard went in search of the men, but they found no one.

Lieutenant Sherron Manswell of the Coast Guard promised to give information on the incident as it comes available.
