Neighbour shoots neighbour

SOUTH Oropouche police arrested a 60-year-old man who shot and wounded his neighbour early Saturday morning.

Up to late yesterday, Andrews James, 29, remained warded in a stable condition at the Intensive Care Unit of the San Fernando General Hospital.

Police said at around 3.40 am on Saturday, James was walking along Silverstream Road in Aripero Village, when his neighbour ran out of his house and shot him in the abdomen.

The suspect ran off leaving James, a labourer, on the road.

Residents who heard the shot called the police, and the suspect was later arrested.

Investigators said they searched the suspect’s house but did not find a gun.

The 60-year-old man is being held at the Fyzabad Police Station.

Meanwhile, South Western Division Task Force police destroyed $150,000 worth of marijuana trees during a marijuana eradication exercise at Palo Seco on Saturday.

The exercise began at about 10 am and ended at 2 pm. Police went to a forested area approximately 100 feet off Beach Road, where they discovered 50 fully grown marijuana trees.
