Fixing potholes

THE EDITOR: I would like to address the issue of having potholes fixed to the relevant authority.

First of all, is there a plan to detect where potholes are located? Meaning, is there a person or people whose job it is to drive around and look for potholes that need to be fixed? I doubt that, as it would seem to be a waste of taxpayers money and the idea that some have been around so long they have become part of the “décor” for want of a better description.

So assuming that I am correct, the only possible way that the relevant authority can be informed is by letters like this. So, my first duty would be to advise that on Victoria Avenue West there is a huge pothole or crater as I would prefer to call it, about half way up going towards Park street – and I’m using names that I see on the street signs.

Secondly, on Crystal Stream in Petit Valley, immediately after turning east off the highway, just before the school, I had the unfortunate displeasure of encountering a pothole.

That one is going to cost me some money at my mechanic. Then, on the Morne Coco road between Crystal Stream and a bakery two hundred yards further, there is one that makes passing of two vehicles side by side almost impossible. This is a recipe for a collision.

While I’m sure that there are many others all over the country, these are the ones that I’ve grown to know personally and would like to see them fixed, not just for myself but for all concerned. If this works, I’ll be willing to advise of any others that I encounter free of charge.
