New buses delayed

Fifteen new buses which were to arrive in Tobago on Monday, being transported overnight on the cargo ferry Cabo Star, did not arrive on the island.

Tedd Taylor, President of the Tobago Transportation and Industry Workers Union, told Newsday Tobago on Monday evening that he had no information on what caused the delay but was awaiting an explanation from the Public Transportation Service Corporation (PTSC).

At last Thursday’s Tobago House of Assembly (THA) plenary at the Chamber, Jerningham Street, Scarborough, Minority Leader Watson Duke, in calling for a Tobago Transportation Agency to see about sea and inland transport matters for the island, had argued that the agency would be of great help to Tobagonians in allowing for freedom of movement.

“It is difficult to exercise your freedom of movement knowing that there are 15 new buses parked in Trinidad currently, waiting for someone to finish drinking his coffee and signing the papers to say ‘alright, bring them over now.’ That is what is happening right now,” he said.
