No update on Maxie’s health

MINISTER of Public Administration Marlene McDonald yesterday could shed no light on the health status of her predecessor and now minister in the ministry, Maxie Cuffie. Asked when Cuffie would be returning to work, she told Newsday, “I have no idea. I have no information on Mr Cuffie.”

In a recent Cabinet reshuffle, the Prime Minister flipped the positions of Mc Donald and Cuffie. Yesterday, Newsday’s calls to the phones of Cuffie and his wife Hermia Tyson-Cuffie went unanswered.

Last month Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister Stuart Young said Cuffie was scheduled to have a second operation as he recuperates in the United States from a stroke. Rowley, last month, told the House of Representatives the Government had spent $2.5 million on Cuffie’s medical bills.

Opposition Senator Khadijah Ameen urged that a video be posted online to give proof of Cuffie’s health status. Several Opposition members have queried whether Cuffie should be entitled to receive his ministerial salary while he is off the job.
