Galleons Passage on way to Mexico

THE Galleons Passage has passed the Hawaiian islands having left the port of Honolulu minutes after midnight yesterday bound for Acapulco, Mexico.

Latest satellite tracking yesterday of the boat at 3 pm revealed it was moving at about 12 knots out of Honolulu.

The new boat, bought from China by the TT Government, will service the sea bridge between Trinidad, and Tobago.

Based on its speed, the Galleons Passage will arrive in Acapulco on April 24, after travelling approximately 3,289 nautical miles from Honolulu. It is expected to remain in Acapulco for two days, then head to Cuba via the Panama Canal. From Acapulco to Havana is 1,070 nautical miles and the duration of that journey is about five days.

There, it will be outfitted with a deck and passenger seats.

The Galleons Passage is expected to hold approximately 700 passengers.
