Mutota: Fair and transparent investigation into Smith affair

WOMEN’S Institute for Alternative Development (WINAD) executive director Folade Mutota said she will throw her energy into any investigation into a Sport Ministry settlement involving axed minister Darryl Smith.

A statement from the Office of the Prime Minister yesterday said a committee has been appointed to thoroughly review the circumstances surrounding the dismissal and payment of compensation to Carrie-Ann Moreau at the ministry, where Smith was the minister.

Former permanent secretary and human resource expert Jacqui Wilson will chair the committee and Mutota and attorney Elaine Greene will also sit on the committee, which is expected to report in two weeks.

Mutota, in a brief telephone interview yesterday, said she had not received the terms of reference as yet but stressed she would “bring my authentic self to process.” She said her recent work with WINAD, which she co-founded in 1999, has to do with governance, which would be important to the investigation.
