UPDATE:

REVELLERS from Monday’s Caura Festival made a grisly discovery on Monday night when they happened across the semi-naked body of Shazard Ken Ali, lying in a drain on the Caura Valley Road.

According to reports, Ali told the friends he was liming with that he was going into some bushes to relieve himself.

Details are still sketchy, but investigators speculate that foul play was not involved in his death. They believe Ali may have been intoxicated and trying to relieve himself in a drain when he was hit by an oncoming vehicle and knocked into the drain. It is suspected that while falling, he hit his head on a concrete partition. Police also reportedly found pieces of a broken headlight and a broken license plate at the scene. An autopsy was done yesterday, but relatives were mum on the circumstances of his death.

When news of Ali’s death broke on social media yesterday, there was an outpouring of condolences from friends and colleagues. Many described him as a jovial, upbeat person who was loved his family.

Tunapuna police are continuing inquiries.
