Five arrested for traffic violations in Central

FIVE drivers were arrested for road traffic violations during a roadblock exercise in Cunupia yesterday morning. According to police reports, four were arrested for drinking and driving and one for failing to provide a breathalyser sample to members of the Central Division’s DUI Task Force.

The exercise was done between 5pm on Saturday and 1am on Sunday. A total of 35 drivers were tested.

Meanwhile, Central Division Task Force police found a pistol loaded with four rounds of .38mm ammunition during an anti-crime exercise in the California district on Saturday. Acting on information, the officers went to Dow Village where they searched a bushy area near the basketball court and found the firearm inside a plastic bucket. The officers later went to Frederick Settlement, Caroni, where they searched a play park and found a plastic bag with 76 grammes of marijuana. No arrest was made in connection with the finds.
