Parents need to control their children

THE EDITOR: I have in recent times listened to various commentaries, on TV and radio, since that recent disturbance resulting from the alleged shooting by police of Akile “Christmas” James in the Laventille.

Most responders to questions and especially the seniors from the Laventille area are calling on the Government to get more involved in uplifting the area with sporting facilities etc.

While I think this is paramount, the areas of neglect are with proper parenting, discipline, education and wanting to be a better person with the opportunities given to do so.

The Government cannot be blamed for these children not being brought up in a proper and respectful way, and parents, including single ones, must take responsibility and control of their children and guide them accordingly.
