'Smeagol' killed in Charlieville

A 25-year-old man was shot while liming near his home along Assaraff Road, Charlieville shortly before 8 pm.

According to sources, the man identified only as “Smeagol” was shot five times by a gunman. Residents said they remembered hearing loud explosions but thought it was fireworks, as violence is a rarity in their community.

Officers of the Central Division were notified and took the man to the Chaguanas District Health Facility. His condition remains unknown at this time.

The man is said to perform odd jobs in the community for residents but has no fixed place of employment.
