As the world celebrates International Women's Day today, both officers and inmates of the Carrera Island Convict Prison showed their support to gender equality during a tea party hosted by the InterClub Trinidad and the Prisons Service at the Hyatt Regency Ballroom on Tuesday, according to a release issued yesterday.

The eight inmates donated their earnings from the Carrera Island Studios 2017 Annual Arts Exhibition to a charitable organisation selected by the Interclub. The specially commissioned painting for this event featured a landscape which including in its design, ten female figures hidden in its composition. This painting was auctioned with the proceeds going to charity and to assist the artists with purchasing supplies.
