Ex-cop shot, critical

A retired policeman was listed in a critical condition yesterday after he was shot in the neck early yesterday morning.

According to police reports, Neville Roberts was found with the gun shot wound at Grand Curucaye, San Juan around 6 am yesterday. Police said they don’t suspect that Roberts, a former special reserve police officer, was robbed as his wallet with cash was found in his vehicle. Roberts, in his late 60s, was found shortly after residents heard gunshots in the area. The bullet entered one side of his neck and exited the other, police said.

Roberts police said, after retiring, began working PH taxi in the Santa Cruz to San Juan area. He usually works early hours, police said. Roberts is warded at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope.
