AG sues Super Fast Galicia broker

ATTORNEY General Faris Al-Rawi on Thursday filed and served an action on the broker for the controversial Super Fast Galicia Intercontinental Shipping for losses and damages incurred by Trinidad and Tobago. This was revealed yesterday by Minister in the Office of the Attorney General Stuart Young as he contributed to Parliamentary debate on a motion about diversifying the economy.

“I want them to tell the population again, how the Galicia was procured, who is it that procured the Galicia who was paid for procurement of the Galicia,” Young said. He added that the AG has said there is further action to come out of the Super Fast Galicia transactions. In April the owners of the Super Fast Galicia withdrew its service on the sea bridge which it had operated since 2014.

Young also reported that Government found a “secret room” at the Education Facilities Company Limited where people employed by the former administration were working on laptops overtime to “backfill” documentation. “What they were doing is they creating tender documents. And so sloppy in the work they were doing is they used the same handwriting on all four of the tender documents.”

Young reported that there are a lot more investigations which are aided by foreign allies and actions had commenced in New York and Miami. In response Oropouche East MP Dr Roodal Moonilal said while Government has spoken of extortion and bacchanal with the Galicia they cut the contract and to this day there was no new vessel.

He said the country did not know how and if the Galleons Passage would arrive and we had to learn about it via the Finance Minister by a tweet on Twitter. he slammed the Government for abandoning the post-Cabinet press conference and addressing critical matters with a tweet. He said the Government would chalk up $100 million in legal fees which taxpayers will have to pay.

“They taking Intercontinental, somebody to court, who paying the legal fees. Is it the member for Port of Spain North? He is in trouble by himself. He don’t have time for legal fees,” Moonilal said.
