Family of four on gun, ammo charges

A family of four appeared before a Chaguanas magistrate, jointly charged with possession of firearms and ammunition.

Deochan Rampersad, 63, Fazali Rampersad, 58, Ayona Rampersad, 30 and Faraz Rampersad, 28, were held at their Frederick Settlement Caroni home when police executed a search warrant which was part of an exercise conducted between 3am and 8 am on Tuesday.

When police searched the Rampersads’ house, they found a Beretta pistol, a revolver, 108 rounds of .38 ammunition, seven rounds of 9 mm ammuniton, 48 12 gauge cartridges, a camouflage army jacket, a ski mask, a pair of handcuffs and other items.
