East PoS raids

TWO days after residents of East Port-of-Spain burnt debris and blocked roads in retaliation of the police killing of Akel James alias “Christmas”, close to 75 police and soldiers locked down the area from as early as 3 am yesterday and carried out door to door searches in a bid to seek out illegal arms and ammunition.

Officers led by Acting Senior Supt Ajith Persad who is the Head of Port-of-Spain CID and including ASPs Parriman, Corbett, Inspector Powder, Sgts Austin and Grant, PC Fortunae and others from the Port-of-Spin CID swooped down under the cover of darkness.

The exercise was also aimed at finding perpetrators of some of the protests on Monday.
