Tips for stayingsafe at Carnival

THE EDITOR: Criminals look for the unguarded moment to attack. So many citizens become easy prey at Carnival. But you can safeguard yourself. So here are some basic things we should bear in mind:

1. Don’t leave your home unprotected or not properly secure for long periods.

2. Secure your vehicle properly when attending a function.

3. Keep a keen eye on your children, especially in crowds. Keep them close.

4. Don’t drink and drive and stay away from illegal drugs.

5. Be aware of strangers; this is no time for being over-friendly.

6. Move in groups, it’s safer.

7. Beachgoers should stay in waters they can manage and watch children at all times. Remember, drinking and the sea do not mix. A sober head is the best head.

It is better to be safe than sorry. Adults, your safety and those with you are in your hands. Please do not fail them.
