A 54-year-old woman yesterday appeared before a Chaguanas magistrate charged with allegedly using a false document in an attempt to secure bail for a woman at the same courthouse. Susan Ramjattan of Cunupia was taken before senior magistrate Jo-Anne Connor shortly after midday yesterday.

It is alleged that on February 1 she submitted a forged valuation report dated January 22, 2018. She pleaded not guilty to the charge laid by PC Andile Mohammed of the Chaguanas CID.

Attorney Taradath Singh, who represented Ramjattan, told the magistrate his client was an acting building supervisor with the National Maintenance Training and Security Company for the past 20 years.

Singh said Ramjattan had no previous convictions or pending matters before the court. He pleaded for leniency.

The magistrate granted Ramjattan $50,000 bail to be approved by an assistant Clerk of the Peace.

The case was adjourned to March 1.
