Women, man get bail on cocaine charges

A Couva woman, her niece and a man were all granted bail by a Couva magistrate yesterday when they appeared in court charged with having 10.9 grammes of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

Kinda Hercules and her niece Sarafeena Hercules were each granted $15,000 own bail while Keron Cyrus was granted $15,000 bail with clerk of the peace approval.

They were represented by attorney Darril Giles when they appeared before Magistrate Siumongal Ramsaran. They were arrested Monday at Railway Road, Couva. They were charged by PC Ramoutar of the Couva CID.

Giles told the court that Kinda Hercules is 34, the mother of a three-year-old child and works as a sales clerk with Courts. She has no previous or pending charges.

He said Sarafeena has two young children, six and two, is a housewife and also had no prior criminal charges.

Cyrus, 22, works for the Kiss Baking Company and also has a two-year-old son. They live at Railway Road, Couva.

Siumongal said he took into consideration the clean records of the women and that they have young children before granting them each $15,000 own bail. They will return to court on February 20.
