The bodies of a man and woman were found yesterday wrapped in bedsheets and dumped in bushes at Mon Plasir Road in Cunupia shortly after 5.25 pm.

Up to press time, both victims remained unidentified. Cunupia police received an anonymous tip off informing them of the discovery. Officers went to an area commonly known as ‘Campoo’ in Mon Plasir Road where they spotted the multi-coloured bedsheets. Near to the sheets were a paid of women’s sandals.

On raising the bedsheets, the officers found the bodies of the man and woman both of whom are said to be of East Indian. Police said there were marks of violence to the head of both victims and the absence of bloodstains on the sheet and on the ground suggests they were killed elsewhere and their bodied dumped at Mon Plasir Road.

As police officers processed the scene, scores of curious villagers stood nearby and tried to catch a glimpse of the victims. The bodies were later removed to the Forensic Science Centre in St James where once positive identification is made, autopsies will be done.

The discovery of the bodies, police said, would raise the murder toll for this year to 45.
