Dr Rudolph Ottley will produce this year’s Dimanche Gras, Colin Lucas, National Carnival Commission (NCC) chairman, told Newsday yesterday.

The annual show is expected to be produced for approximately $1.3 million, Lucas added.

Ottley, a Carnival researcher, has written over nine books, two on the theme of women in calypso.

Ottley, who got his PhD in 2015, has a bachelor’s degree in sociology and Latin American and Caribbean studies as well as selling.

He also provided marketing services to the Trinbago Unified Calypsonians’ Organisation, Odyssey Consulting and the NCC.

Ottley owns and runs the only all-female calypso tent, the Divas Calypso Cabaret International.

Calls to him yesterday went unanswered.
