Good work Minister Garcia

THE EDITOR: Please permit me the opportunity to congratulate Education Minister Anthony Garcia for having been polled as the Most Accessible Member of Parliament and the Best Performing Minister for 2017 in the Power 102.1 FM telephone poll held yesterday.

This is the second straight year that he was judged the best performing minister in Government.

Although his job is a difficult one, he has been able to achieve notable successes in improving the education system, one such example being the significant reduction in the levels of school indiscipline in the nation’s schools.

This has resulted in those schools that were previously experiencing school indiscipline now being transformed into places of peace, creating a more conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning.

Despite many school buildings being very old and in need of emergency repairs and maintenance, the Ministry of Education, under the leadership of Mister Garcia, promptly responded to many sewer and infrastructural issues in order to minimise the disruption of classes.

As a former educator and trade unionist, Minister Garcia also used his knowledge and experience to ensure that the organisations such as TTUTA, NPTA, school boards and other organisations continued to have a say in the running of the education system.

Finally, I am not surprised that he was also voted the Most Accessible Member of Parliament because, as a former teacher, principal and trade unionist, Mr Garcia remains a very humble, humane and approachable person.

He is someone you can approach anytime and he will freely talk with you.

Minister Garcia, I encourage you to remain humble and keep working hard in your constituency and at the Ministry of Education.
