Woman's body found in Santa Flora

UPDATED:

With just two days before the start of the new year, and in what police have described as one of the most heinous acts for 2017, the decomposed body of a young woman was found with her genitals removed.

Her nude body was dumped in a forest off the Petrotrin Field Roads in Santa Flora. Up to late yesterday evening the body remained unidentified. However investigators told Newsday that the woman is of fair complexion and had curly hair. According to a police report, at about 11 am the body was found by a passer-by who was investigating a foul stench in the area. Police were contacted.

They said because of the state of decomposition, it is believed the body had been dumped in the forest for several days. Officers combed the forest for several hours searching for clues. A district medical officer examined the body which was then removed to the Forensics Science Centre in St James. Members of the Homicide Region Three are investigating.
