Koylass cruises in RBC U-16 Singles

Victoria Koylass and Yin Lee Assang both stormed to victories in round one of the girls Under-16 singles category of the RBC Junior Tennis tournament at the Trinidad Country Club in Maraval, yesterday.

Koylass and Lee Assang, who are among the favourites this year, eased to straight sets victories. Koylass defeated Emily Lawrence 6-0, 6-1 and Assang was a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Aralia Blackman.

In other round one matches, Isabel Abraham got past Stephanie Sirju 6-2, 6-0, Jade Tom Yew outlasted Aalisha Alexis 6-2, 6-1, Chloe Weeks defeated Janay Sealey 6-1, 6-0, and Kelsey Leitch was victorious over Kryshelle Cudjoe 6-2, 6-2.

In the boys Under-14 round robin category, Kyle Kerry sent a strong warning to his competitors with a 4-0, 4-0 win over Ethan-Jude Trestrail. Sebastian Sylvester was also strong on the day with a 4-2, 4-2 win over Lorcan Chan Pak. In the girls Under-14 round robin, favourite Cameron Wong romped to a 4-0, 4-0 victory over Gabrielle Mackenzie.

The tournament continues today from 9 am.
