Husband of shot cop: She’s done with policing

Harry James, the husband of PC Roxanne Sealy, who was shot and wounded at the San Juan police station in September, says his wife is recovering well after months of treatment and is responsive, but will not be returning to work as a police officer after she recuperates.

Newsday spoke yesterday with James, who said in light of the death of SRP Richard Babwah in Arouca and the wounding of PC Anand Ram in Marabella, after speaking with his wife at length on Sunday, she decided not to continue her career with the Police Service.

“She made the decision herself,” James said. “She said if she was to return to work, it wouldn’t be at the same station and that’s understandable, especially after what she has been through. So whether she changes her mind and decides to go back to work or leave the service, I will support her 100 per cent.”

James and Sealy have been married for over five years.

“I’ve been by her side since this whole incident happened. It’s been a very emotional journey for me.“

He said their two daughters visited their mother on Sunday and were in good spirits after learning of her almost miraculous recovery, and he was optimistic she would be discharged soon.
