Breast milk is best

THE EDITOR: I applaud Member of Parliament Paula Gopee-Scoon for giving such sage advice to her colleague, Member of Parliament Ramona Ramdial, to whit, that breast milk is superior to purchased milk.

Further, this indisputable fact is known to any of us who has ever sat in a health centre or visited a government hospital where posters broadcast information about the only intelligent way to feed an infant under the age of six months and which give information to all working mothers about how to express their precious milk.

It is not clear to me what exactly a baby grant is, but I do know that it could not provide funds for the purchase of breast milk substitute, or formula as it is called, because this would contravene the National Breastfeeding Policy. Thank you Ms Gopee-Scoon for promoting a healthy start for the infants of this beleaguered nation.
