Jailed for raping ex-girlfriend

A Tunapuna man who was convicted of raping his one-time girlfriend has been sentenced to 11 years' hard labour.

He was today sentenced by Justice Althea Alexis-Windsor in the Port of Spain High Court for raping, kidnapping and falsely imprisoning his former girlfriend in 2008.

He took her from her workplace to his brother's house where he raped her. She was released the next day.

The man had breached a protection order one year before for which he was jailed for three months.
