JSC calling single fathers

Single fathers are invited to state their problems in custody matters, policies and access to programmes and services to a parliamentary committee, indicated the Parliament website on Friday. The Joint Select Committee (JSC) on Human Rights, Equality and Diversity chaired by Minister of Community Development Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly has made a call for submissions on the topic, Inequality Faced by Single Fathers.

The JSC is inviting single fathers, stakeholders and interested people to submit written comments, suggestions and recommendations on its inquiry objectives.

These goals are to understand the unique challenges faced by male single parents, examine the equality of the policies that exist with respect to single fathers, determine if the programmes and services offered to single parents meet the needs of single fathers, and evaluate current legislation that may impact the custodial rights of single fathers.

The deadline for submissions is December 18. Submissions should be sent to the secretary, Joint Select Committee on Human Rights, Equality and Diversity, Office of Parliament, Tower D, International Waterfront Centre, 1A Wrightson Road, Port-of-Spain. Submissions can alternatively be e-mailed to jschumanrights@ttparliament.org.
