A gas station pump attendant in now warded at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, after he was attacked during a robbery. Around 1 pm on Saturday, five men drove into the Valpark NP Gas Station, Valsayn, off the Churchill Roosevelt Highway and proceeded to attack a pump attendant.

According to another employee, staff were alerted to the vehicle when it made a “prohibited drive” at the gas station. One of the employees informed the driver about the illegal drive, the men came out of their gold-colured Nissan Tiida, took the cash the attendant had and brutally beat him.

The attendant eventually escaped and ran towards the direction of the Valpark Shopping Plaza which was filled with Christmas shoppers. The bandits gave chase briefly before returning to their getaway vehicle. The attendant lost two of his front teeth and also sustained lacerations to his head.

The men drove onto the west bound lane of the highway and parked a few meters after the turn off from the Valpark traffic lights.

They returned to the gas station, but by this time, employees had locked themselves in the gas station’s office. This angered the one of the bandits, who used a cutlass to chop at the burglar proofing which protected the employees.

Police officers were on the scene within five minutes and are looking for the five men.
