Roxanne Cudjoe secures bail

Roxanne Cudjoe, the Penal hairdresser who allegedly harboured prisoner and multiple fraud-accused Vicky Boodram, secured her bail bond yesterday.

On Wednesday when the matter was first called before Siparia magistrate Margaret Alert, she granted Cudjoe, 32, bail in the sum of $100,000. Cudjoe was absent and the matter was adjourned to yesterday. The accused mother of one appeared yesterday before Alert who adjourned the case to January 4. She was not called upon to plead. At about 2 pm, Cudjoe secured her bail and thus left police custody shortly thereafter.

She is being represented by attorney Richard Clarke-Wills.

Sgt Lawrence Joefield charged Cudjoe, of Lachoos Road, Penal, with unlawfully harbouring Boodram at her home with intent to impede Boodram’s arrest.

Cudjoe, together with two police officers – Constables LeVon Sylvester and Lisa Navarro – and Boodram, were charged with offences relating to Boodram’s escape from prison. Boodram, 35, escaped from the Women’s Prison in Arouca two Mondays ago and police recaptured her last Thursday at a house in Penal. All four made their first appearances on Tuesday in the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court. Ag Chief Magistrate Maria Busby Earle-Caddle, before whom they appeared, had granted each police officer $300,000 bail. She had denied bail to Boodram, who was charged with escaping lawful custody.
