Members of the Sangre Grande Task Force found and destroyed a total of $1.7 million worth of marijuana in Toco on Monday.

Police said they conducted the exercise between 7 am and midday. They had to trek a mile into the forest along Salybia Road, Toco, before finding six marijuana fields with about 1,500 fully grown trees, near a lighthouse.

The team also found 40 pounds of cured marijuana, 3,000 seedlings, two pounds of seeds and a drying rack.

The marijuana was destroyed and other items were seized for evidence, but no one was arrested.
