Beware of stingrays at Manzanilla Beach

The Lifeguard Services division of the Ministry of National Security is warning sea bathers and visitors to Manzanilla Beach to be aware of stingrays.

In a media release, the ministry said there has been an increase in the presence of stingrays along the shallow coastline of the beach.

While there have been no reports of anyone being stung at Manzanilla to date, the ministry said it is a well-known fact that throughout the world stingrays have been known to inflict excruciating injuries on swimmers and beach goers annually.

The Lifeguards Services division wishes to urge the public to be vigilant and cautious as they use the beach.
