Jewellery store owner robbed

The proprietress of Savi’s Jewellery located at Main Road, Couva was robbed of a gold bracelet valued $100,00 and a diamond ring also valued another $100,00 by two gunmen who stormed her business place on Thursday afternoon.

The bandits also smashed a showcase inside the business place and removed a quantity of jewellery. Police reports revealed that around 3.45 pm on Thursday Savitri Ramsingh was at her business place with an employee when two men, one armed with a gun, entered and announced a hold up.

Ramsingh, a relative of businessman Nal Ramsingh, was ordered to hand over the gold bracelet and diamond wedding ring she was wearing.

The business woman became afraid and handed over her jewellery to the gunman.

The other bandit then smashed a showcase containing gold and diamond rings and put the items into a bag. The robbery was captured on CCTV camera and a report was made to the Couva police.

Police carried out enquiries and a search was carried out for the two bandits to no avail.

Investigations are continuing.
